Recently I sent seven students to the Jacksonville Music Teacher's Association Recital.  This was a virtual recital.  My students played with artistry, good technique, and an obvious love for music.  Not to brag, but they represented Sterling Music LLC and me as a teacher in the best way.

PLEASE go to the Facebook page Sterling Music and click on the links to watch these students perform!

Summer Schedule

Wednesday, May 19, 2021 by Dayvin Sterling | Uncategorized

Hello everyone!  I have just updated my summer calendar.  I will be teaching all only Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  I will be available to teach from 10 am to noon and then from 1pm to 7pm each of those days.  Students and parents are welcome to register for the time they want through the student portal.  When you look at the calendar you will see what spaces are available and you can choose accordingly.  This is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.  If you are unable to find a time that works for you, please contact me and I will do everything I can to accommodate every student.

IF your lessons are longer than a half hour slot, please choose both the first half hour and the second half hour (so sign up for 2 slots back to back.)  THEN CONTACT ME.   I will change the schedule accordingly to include 45 minute lessons and hour lessons.

If you are taking a vacation during the summer months, please let me know ASAP.  If I know ahead of time, I will not charge you for a lesson(s) missed due to vacation.  However if you do not let me know, you will be charged as if you were supposed to be there.  Please understand that I am always as flexible and understanding with my students and as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns about the summer schedule or need help signing up please let me know!

March Update

Thursday, March 11, 2021 by Dayvin Sterling | Uncategorized

Hello everyone!  We are well into March!

THERE ARE NO LESSONS OVER SPRING BREAK (MARCH 15th-20th).

A date has been set for the Spring Concert.  It will be held on Sunday, May 30th, at 2pm.  PLEASE mark it on your calendar NOW!!!  It will be at the Golf Village Church next to the Walgreens across from Murabella shopping plaza.

PLEASE consider signing your students up for a Music Monday.  REMEMBER if you sign up, you are COMMITTED.  Please do not back out the day of.  The few other students are counting on you each other to be their audience.  Please note this is a FREE service I am offering my students to help prepare them for the concert.  It gives them an opportunity to perform for a small group prior to the concert.  This builds there confidence, helps them learn how to deal with anxiety, and is a great way for them to know other piano students!

Happy Spring and I hope you have a wonderful break next week!

New Semester update

Friday, January 8, 2021 by Dayvin Sterling | Uncategorized

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!  2021 is finally here!  I was thrilled to see everyone at their lessons last week!  Here are a few updates.

School has started again, and there have been many schedule changes.  Thank you all for being flexible and understanding.  If you need to change lesson times or days, please text me as that is the fastest way to contact me.

January 18th is a holiday, MLK day.  I am still teaching.  If you have a Monday lesson time, and you are not going to attend, PLEASE let me know ASAP.  I will schedule a make up lesson for you.  However if you do not tell me by Friday the 15th, I will not be able to accommodate you.  This is because if I do not hear from you, I will assume you are coming and have to pay for childcare whether you are there or not.  Please understand that you will be forfeiting the cost of the lesson.  If you have questions or want to discuss this, please do.  I am always as accomodating as possible, and I want to provide you with the very best musical experience.

Music Mondays will begin again on January 25th.  If you would like to attend, please sign up through the student portal on the calendar.  The time is TBA.  This is a weekly event, and you can attend and play as many times as you want.  Pieces do not have to be recital ready, and you of course can use your music.  This is a great way to get experience performing.  I would like every student to try to attend at least once.  There are 4 slots available, so if you know that you are only able to attend on a specific Monday, you can go ahead an put your name on that day.  There is no Music Monday during Spring break.  There are also no lessons during Spring break.

Starting in the Fall of 2021, tuition will be calculated a little differently.  I will be charging one rate for every month, and it will cover the cost of the number of lessons you will be offered during that semester.  You can pay the total tuition at one time, or I will break it down to a monthly payment.  It is not much different than what is done now, I just won't have to credit anyone which can be confusing for you and me.

Thanksgiving update

Wednesday, November 25, 2020 by Dayvin Sterling | Uncategorized

Hello everyone!  Hope you are getting ready for Thanksgiving and will have a pleasant holiday, whether you are zooming, visiting in person, or any other way you may find to celebrate.

I have been looking at the calendar for December and the Spring semester of 2021.  There will be only 3 lessons in December as I am taking off for the winter break.  If a make up is necessary I will fit it in during the first 3 weeks of December.

Starting in January we will be back to the regular 4 lessons per month, and the tuition you are currently paying each month will stay the same.

There is a 5th week in March and April, so every student will receive a 5th lesson in one of these months.  I am applying that lesson to the week of Spring break, March 15th-March 19th.  There will be no lessons that week.

The following holidays I will continue to teach:  MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day.  If you choose to not have a lesson that day, I cannot guarantee a make up.  As always, I try to support all my students in every way, and if it is at all possible to have a make up I will.  However, I cannot 100% guarantee it.

Summer schedule will start in the first week of June.  There are 10 weeks worth of lessons, and I encourage all students to continue lessons and practice over the summer.  I will be teaching 8 of the 10 weeks between June to the start of school August 10th.  I will be taking two weeks of vacation, dates TBA.

If you have any questions about the schedule, please do not hesitate to text, call or email me.  My main focus is giving my students the best musical experience possible.  Again I will continue to support my students in any way possible.

Happy Thanksgiving!
